Caraval by Stephanie Garber is such a unique romantasy with a magical setting and beautiful dresses. I wanted to create artwork depicting a scene from the book that captured the magical feeling of the text. I chose a scene near the end of the book where the main character Scarlett must make a choice that will win her the game of Caraval or cost her life.

I hope this artwork captures the enchanting feeling in the story and the blossoming romance between the two main characters.

I painted the original artwork in watercolor, which added softness and texture to the print and gives the image traits unique to watercolor.
